Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 Walkthrough

Welcome to my Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 walkthrough. This is the shortest of all the chapters, and has some hidden tapes that are easy to miss. If you have any questions leave a comment, or check out my walkthrough video for more answers.

Table of Contents

Finding the Grab Pack

When the game starts you are in the lobby of the Poppy Playtime factory. As you play the instructions will appear letting you know the controls. You can also check the controls by pulling up the menu, click on settings, then go to controls. Here you can change the controls as well if you don’t like the defaults. Now back to the game, pick up the green tape on the desk by pressing the interact button. Then go to the tape player and interact with it to play the tape. This will give you an interesting message from Leith Pierre.

After that is done you can go to the right room and interact with the door to open it. Look up and you will see a train going in circles. Remember the colors on the train, green, pink, yellow, and red. Now go towards the door that has the colorful key panel next to it. Input the colors green, pink, yellow, and red to open the door. Then you will want to grab the blue tape on the desk and play it. This tape gives important instructions on how to use the Grab Pack so I recommend paying attention if this is your first time.

When the tape is done the glass panel will open up and you can collect the Grab Pack. Go back to the main lobby and enter the back area through the turnstile. Near the top of the wall will be a blue handprint. Place your blue hand on this handprint and keep it there until the door opens. Now you can enter the next room and see the famous Huggy Wuggy greeting you. Go left and there is another door you need to open. Put your hand on the handprint to open this door, but this time the power will cut out and the door will not open.

Start the Power

Wait a few seconds and you should hear the sound of a key dropping. Look at Huggy Wuggy and there will be a key in his hand. Use your Grab Pack to collect the key and now you can open the power room doors. There will be one more set of doors and then you will be in the power room. Go to the other end of the room and you will find a panel, you can open this by grabbing it with the blue hand and winding it back.

This will reveal a power outlet that you can grab with your hand, all power outlets have a 1 on them. While holding this power will run through the grab pack, you know the grab pack is powered because the arm will be glowing blue. Turn around and walk toward the large wire pole, when your arm touches it the pole it will light up showing it has power now. Wrap around the right side of the pole to maintain power to it, then go around the lockers and there will be a second pole.

Wrap your arm around this as well and the lights will turn on in this room. Now you can go back to the center room where Huggy Wuggy was, and put your hand on the blue handprint. The door should open now. Go down this hallway and interact with the left door and keep going forward.

Get the Red Hand

In the next room go up the stairs and you will come to a control panel that needs various batteries plugged into it. The first battery will be on the floor next to the control panel. This is the blue battery and you can go ahead a place it on the panel. The batteries in this room are randomized, so their locations are not the same each time. But I can tell you they are all definitely in this room. Just make sure to look all around in the corners, under the conveyor belt, and on top of shelves.

When you drop down look at the wall and you should see a yellow poster that says “handle with care.” Go over here and go through the gap between the wall and shelf. There you will find the orange tape sitting on a shelf. In my playthrough the green battery was on a bottom shelf, the red battery was hiding by some boxes, and the yellow one was on the backside of a high shelf in the corner. Once you have all the batteries we need to get to the control panel.

To get back to the control panel go to where we dropped down and to the right you will find a handle you can grab to open the sliding door. Here you can watch the tape if you want before proceeding. Then go to the control panel and insert all the batteries. This will activate the crane which will grab the red hand and drop it in the room below. Hop down to collect the red hand. Now you can use both hands to open the door the conveyor belt leads into. The door will not open all the way so you will have to crouch to get through.

Complete the Circuit

Continue forwards and you will slide down to the next area. If you look to the left you will see a receiver, all receivers will have a 2 on them. We need to give power to the receiver. Turn back to where we came from and to the left is the area you want to go. Continue straight and take the first left and you will be in a raised area with rollers around you leading below. To your right there will be the power outlet. Use your red hand to touch this and get powered.

Then look to your left and you will see a wire pole, we need to wrap our arm around this. Go down the left side where the pole is, and when you move forward the arm will touch it to power up the pole. Then continue forward and you will come to the receiver on your left. Touch this with your blue hand and the conveyor belt will turn on to take you to the next area.

Make a Toy

This next room will be where toys can be created. To get things started we first need to power up the machines. Turn right when you drop down into the room and you will see a staircase that goes up. When you get to the top look to the right and there will be the pink tape you can collect. If you would like to watch it you can go back to the TV on the stairs. Now look at the walkway across from you, it has a red handle. Use a hand to grab it and pull the handle towards you to connect the platforms together. Now you can walk across.

Now back to the puzzle, go across the walkway you connected. Here you will see a power outlet, we will need to power up all the wire poles in this area and get it to the power plug. Look at the yellow railings and you will notice there is a gap in it. Here there is another handle we can pull to create a new walkway. Then put your blue hand on the power outlet and walk across the walkway you pulled across. Go right to the other side and use your red hand to pull the walkway toward you to create a new path. Walk back toward the far pole and wrap your arm around it to power it.

Then walk towards the other pole and wrap around that as well. Now use the walkway you pulled to get to the side with the receiver. From here you can use your red hand to touch the receiver and complete the circuit. Now all the machines below will have the power needed to operate.

With that completed you can jump down as there is no fall damage. Go to the console in the middle of the room and press the button to power it on. Once the machine is on you will need to make a toy. Go to the three large machines on the left and pull the left switch, middle switch, and right switch. This will put all the pieces you need to make a toy on the conveyor belt.

You can follow the pieces as they move along and watch the toy being constructed, there is nothing else you need to do. The pictures below show me using the red hand, however this makes it very tight with touching the receiver. So using the blue hand instead on the power outlet will be easier.

When the toy reaches the end of the conveyor belt pick it up. Before using this toy to proceed I want to warn you of something. As soon as we go through this next hallway, Huggy Wuggy will appear to chase us. To escape him you will want to run to where we just picked up the completed toy, as the door there will open up. Now that you know where to run go to the door along the back wall and place the toy on the lit circular platform.

Huggy Wuggy Chase

Slowly walk in and when you approach the doorway Huggy Wuggy will step out. Do not let him touch you or it will be game over. Run back into the room and go right towards the place I mentioned earlier. There will also be red light flashing and an alarm playing from the door so it is clear where you need to go. Run straight and when you get to a dead end turn left. As you are going up the conveyor belt, look at the right wall as the path straightens.

When you see some rollers turn right because Huggy Wuggy is going to appear in front of you if you don’t. Then when you get to the rollers you cannot go up turn left, keep straight and drop down the hole. Continue straight and after sliding down into the next area turn right and go straight. Keep going and you will come to another set of rollers going up you cannot climb. Crouch and go through the opening on the left then turn right when you hit the wall.

Continue forwards and the door in front of you will slam closed. Be patient and wait and the door will reopen. Keep going straight and you will slide down another section. This will be a dead end. Turn around and look up there is a yellow box. Use a hand to grab the box and pull it towards you. This will end the chase sequence.

Look around and you will see a large poppy flower painted on the wall. Go towards this, and when you get to the walkway just before the flower you will see a tape on the floor. Pick it up and go right to watch the tape. When you are ready to continue, go towards the flower painted on the wall and you will enter the next area. Keep going straight through this next area. You will come to a wooden door, open it and inside you will find Poppy in a glass case. Use your Grab Pack to open the door and release Poppy. With that you have reached the end of chapter 1.
